Mobile Ad-hoc network also abbreviated as MANET, is the most dynamic technology that works on routable networking as it utilizes movable wireless devices. In other words, it is the wireless network that works without any infrastructure. It holds a set of mobile nodes such as smartphones, laptops, iPads, and PDAs, that are connected in a self-healing and auto-configured wireless network. When MANET is connected to these nodes, they act as a router to transfer packets to other spaced nodes. MANET is also known as an Ad-hoc wireless network or wireless Ad-hoc network.
MANET can be operated in a standalone way or be a part of a larger internet. They can create a highly dynamic and autonomous topology through one or multiple transceivers between the nodes. It is alleged that MANET equips each device to maintain the information that is required to route traffic properly. It also comprises a peer-to-peer, self-healing network that typically communicates at around 30MHz to 5GHz of radio frequencies. The applications of MANET are to create systems for road safety, disaster rescue operations, weapons, sensors for the environment, robots, air/navy/land defense, and so on.

As some nodes work on batteries or other means of energy, they are characterized by less power, memory as well as lightweight features.
Minimal Human Intervention:
MANET needs less human intervention for network configuration, thus they are dynamically autonomous.

QoS (Quality of Service): Researchers are also working on improving the QoS of mobile ad-hoc networks through routing protocols that offer improved latency, bandwidth, and throughput.
